 Introduction:

The mock interview sessions held at Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training aimed to prepare trainee teachers for real job interviews by simulating authentic interview experiences. The sessions took place over three days, from February 27th to February 29th, providing participants with ample opportunities to refine their interview skills and receive constructive feedback.

 

 

 

Objectives:

To familiarize trainee teachers with common interview questions and scenarios relevant to the education sector. To assess trainee teachers' communication skills, professionalism, and ability to articulate their teaching philosophy and experiences. To provide personalized feedback and guidance to help trainee teachers improve their interview performance and confidence.

Methodology:

Each trainee teacher underwent a mock interview session conducted by experienced educators or professionals from the education sector. The interviews were structured to simulate real interview settings, with questions covering various aspects such as teaching philosophy, classroom Management, and lesson planning, and handling challenging situations. Interviewers provided constructive feedback immediately following each session, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. Trainee teachers were encouraged to reflect on their performance and incorporate feedback to enhance their interview skills.

Key Findings:

Strong Communication Skills: Many trainee teachers demonstrated effective communication skills, expressing their ideas clearly and confidently during the interviews. Emphasis on Pedagogical Knowledge: Participants showcased a solid understanding of pedagogical concepts and demonstrated the ability to apply them in practical teaching scenarios.

Areas for Improvement:

  1. Confidence: Some trainee teachers exhibited signs of nervousness or lack of confidence, which impacted their overall performance. Encouraging self-assurance and practicing mock interviews can help alleviate this issue.
  2. Interview Techniques: Several participants could benefit from refining their interview techniques, such as maintaining eye contact, using appropriate body language, and structuring responses cohesively.
  3. Content Depth: While most trainee teachers provided adequate responses, enhancing the depth and specificity of examples from their teaching experiences could further strengthen their interview responses.

 

 

 

Conclusion:

The mock interview sessions conducted at Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training served as valuable preparation for trainee teachers entering the job market. By identifying strengths and areas for improvement, participants can enhance their interview skills and increase their confidence in securing employment opportunities in the education sector.
